Good Photos

I love looking at winning pictures in photo contests. One thing I've noticed is that about half of the winners appear to be carefully planned and staged by the photographer. The other half appear to be accidental - with some element of greatness the photographer only noticed after taking the picture. Personally, I tend to prefer the accidental photos over the staged ones. Maybe this is because I feel like the accidental photo is one I could have taken, even with my limited equipment and experience.

But my favorite photographs usually fall somewhere in that undefined middle ground. You're not sure if the photographer realized exactly what they were getting when they took the photo. In that spirit, I think the following photo of Hillary Clinton is among the best political photographs I have seen:
