Mike, I have a white noise machine and I love it! As a kid, I remember that sometimes I would have difficulties sleeping until the air conditioning turned on, and then I'd fall right to sleep. I also love fan noise. I have never tried a CD, but one advantage is that you can crank up the volume. Sometimes I wish my white noise machine were a little louder.
